80th Birthday of Police Boat Charles D Gaither

Today (July 23) is the 80th anniversary of the launch of the all steel police boat Charles D. Gaither! Built by Spedden Shipbuilding‘s Canton Yard she served as Baltimore City’s first all steel patrol boat for 31 years before she became the Baltimore City Fire Department Battalion Chief’s vessel. She is currently owned by the Baltimore & Chesapeake Steamboat Company.
