Maryland Dove at CBMM March 9, 2021

Today was my fourth trip to see how the Maryland Dove construction is coming along at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. You can see my previous entries here: January 12, 2020, July 26, 2020, September 19, 2020.

I was really looking forward to seeing what changes had been made since my last visit about 5 months ago.

Unfortunately the sides were lowered halfway severely limiting the view.

I apologize for how the photos came out for this blog entry, I did the best I could under the circumstances.

Hopefully better weather will result in the sides being rolled up again for future visits.

A board with some interesting markings was found near the fenceline.

Some much better views can be had by checking out the museum’s own progress entries on the ship which can be seen here.

Looking elsewhere on the grounds I saw signs of woodworking taking place around a building referred to as the Corn Crib

as well as an area near their Living Shoreline where felled trees are turned into ship parts!

In my previous visit the former crab dredge Old Point was up on the marine railway undergoing maintenance. Today she is back in the water next to the cruise ship Patriot which will resume cruises this May!

The River Tug Delaware also looks like it was getting some attention although my view of her was limited due to tarp covering the side nearest the fence line.

It is always great to visit this museum and I look forward to making a return when hopefully more of her is in view! Click here to check out more photos I took today.
