Algoma Integrity Comes to Baltimore August 9, 2020

This 197x32m (646x105ft) Bahamas flagged self discharging bulk carrier was built in 2009 by Estaleiro ILHA in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil which went bankrupt in 2015 according to BalticShipping.com.

She is owned by Algoma Central Corporation of Ontario, Canada. They have an interesting data sheet on this ship which includes a diagram, click here to check it out. She is listed as being part of the CSL Group‘s fleet. CSL Americas operates a pool partnership with Oldendorff Carriers, Marbulk Shipping Inc. and Algoma Shipping.

According to this MarineLog article she was formerly named Gypsum Integrity and owned by Gypsum Transportation. Algoma bought and renamed her in 2015. The article also states that she was reflagged from Bahamas to Canada but appears to still be flagged Bahamas and even had Nassau under the ship name at the stern.

This video from 2008 shows her being launched while firing a barrage of fireworks. This video from 2010 shows her using her self discharging mechanism to unload coal in Rotterdam.

5877-1 Algoma Integrity

This amazing video from 2018 was made by local drone pilot Pat Gavin and shows the ship using her self discharging mechanism to unload what appears to be gypsum. The Savannah is briefly seen in the beginning of the video along with other sights familiar to the Baltimore Shipspotting community.

In my 7 and a half minute video below she can be seen approaching on the Patapsco River. The pilot boat Maryland arrives and a sharp eye can see a pilot going up the ladder. As she nears a better view of her unusual self discharging mechanism is afforded. The pilot boat hangs around to provide a size comparison before peeling away. After passing under the Key bridge the tugboat April Moran makes a brief appearance before vanishing on the far side of the ship to assist her to dock.
