Atlantic Sea Comes to Baltimore July 12, 2020
This 296×37.6m (971.13×123.36ft) Container/Ro-Ro (or ConRo) ship was built in 2016 by Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group in China for Atlantic Container Line (ACL). She can carry up to 2,800 TEUs and 1,300 cars.
This ACL page shows more details about this ship and other ships in her class. This April 9, 2018 article talks about transatlantic passenger service on board this type of ship and includes photos. This October 22, 2018 blog entry by Halifax Shipping News indicates this ship had ramp issues which put her out of commission for a week.
This video from 2016 shows her in Liverpool, UK for her naming ceremony by Princess Anne. Check out this drone video of her arriving to Halifax, Canada October 12, 2016. This 2019 video by a passenger shows on onboard views.
In my 11 and a half minute video below she can be seen approaching Baltimore, Maryland on the Patapsco River having come up the Chesapeake Bay. The ships’s steady movement contrasts sharply with the pleasure boats dealing with the waves. As she approaches containers from ACL and Grimaldi Lines can be seen as well as some representation by other companies. After passing under the Key bridge the tugboat Timothy McAllister moves to comes alongside the ship in order to assist to dock.
