Emu Arrow Comes to Baltimore July 6, 2019
This 199x32m (653x105ft) general cargo ship was built in 1997 by Dalian New Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Company (now Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company) in Dalian, China according to scheepvaartwest.be. She is owned by Gearbulk and is one of their nine 5th generation open-hatch gantry craned vessels.
On the side of the ship can be seen in large letters “G2OCEAN” which is a joint venture between Gearbulk and Grieg Star.
This ship was unloading cargo in Kashima, Japan during the 2011 tsunami and escaped with hull damage when her quick thinking crew used the bow thruster and main engine to maneuver away according to this report at Shipwrecklog.com.
In the video below she can be seen passing the outbound cruise ship Grandeur of the Seas. As she nears the camera the pilot boat Vedette can be seen alongside.
