Evans Spirit Comes to Baltimore February 21, 2021
This 139x21m (459x68ft) Canada flagged bulk carrier was built in 2007 by Delfzijl, Netherlands based Niestern Sander and named Spavalda for her Italian owner Setramar according to BalticShipping.com.
According to BoatNerd.com she was acquired in 2015 by Canada based McKeil Marine and renamed in honor of founder Evans McKeil. The BoatNerd page has photos of this ship wearing both names.
McKeil has this brief data sheet on the ship.
This 2016 video shows her passing through the Welland Canal. She is shown passing through the Soo Locks in this 2019 video. She is again seen on the Welland Canal in this 2020 video.
In my 5 minute 5K video below she can be seen arriving on the Patapsco River as she makes her way to Baltimore, Maryland. The colors on her deckhouse raised the question if there was a connection with Vane Brothers, a tug company with similar colors. There does not appear to be a connection.
I was hoping to find a video on how the unusual cranes on this ship work but was not able to find any. A pilot can be seen boarding from pilot boat Maryland. Tug Lynne Moran is seen just before she passes under the Key Bridge.
