Gallop Comes to Baltimore September 20, 2020
This 180x32m (591x105ft) Singapore flagged tanker was built in 2019 by Kitanihon Shipbuilding in Japan according to ClassNK. She is owned by Victoria Navigation PTE. LTD. and managed by UNIX Line PTE. LTD, a subsidiary of MOL Chemical Tankers.
Her stop in Vancouver on her maiden voyage got media attention from KCBY. This article from 2019 says she delivered 8,000 liquid metric tons of sodium hydroxide.
Given how new this ship is it wouldn’t come as a surprise that there’s not much news or other video of this ship.
In my 8 minute video below the general cargo ship BBC Topaz can be seen releasing water from bags used to test her cranes. She can then be seen travelling on the Chesapeake Bay where she will soon turn onto the Patapsco River. Tug Camie can be seen working a barge at a dredging operation. As she nears a pilot can be seen boarding the ship from pilot boat Baltimore. After she passes under the Key bridge she is met by the tug April Moran.
