Grandeur of the Seas Departed Baltimore July 6, 2019
This 279x36m (915x118ft) cruise ship was built in 1996 by STX Finland Oy’s Hietalahti shipyard. STX has underwent a number of name changes since then and is currently known as Meyer Turku. This 2014 gCaptain article has more information about this transformation. This Land Sea & Air article from 2013 has a profile of STX Finland Oy that is quite interesting. The shipyard also underwent some ownership changes and is currently owned by Arctech Helsinki Shipyard. The Grandeur of the Seas is owned by Royal Caribbean and is currently their third oldest ship according to this wikipedia article. This Vision Class ship can carry up to 2,446 passengers and 760 crew. In the video below watch as people crowd the upper decks, especially towards the front of the ship. A police boat can be seen providing escort as well. As the ship passes people can be seen moving about on most of the visible spaces. On this voyage she is heading to Bermuda and will return July 11th for her next voyage which will be to New England.
