Gunhilde Maersk Comes to Baltimore December 3, 2018
This 366.89×42.8m (1203.7×140.4ft) ship matches the size of Gunde Maersk which was the largest container ship to arrive in Baltimore, Maryland. Georg Maersk is another sister ship I have observed coming to town. She was built in 2008 by Odense Steel Shipyard which closed in 2012. She is owned by A.P. Moller Maersk. In the video below it can be hard to get a sense for how large this ship is. During closer views you can occasionally see people on deck preparing for docking. As she passes under the Key bridge watch for the Amazon truck and realize that each of the containers on board are roughly the size of that trailer. Speaking of trailers watch for stacks of truck trailers packed in container sized units. For best results watch in FULL SCREEN. You may need to watch for 20+ seconds before full resolution kicks in.
Watch a video which includes all the ships I saw this day which also includes a tanker and a bulk freighter.
