Hermes Leader Comes to Baltimore, Maryland April 13, 2019
This 199x35m (562.89×114.83ft) vehicles carrier is owned by Ray Car Carriers according to BalticShipping.com and operated by NYK Line. She was built in 2015 by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard and quickly became a hero when she rescued 336 people on July 14 in the Mediterranean Sea. I have been unable to find more details about this rescue so I don’t know what vessel they were rescued from.
In the video below she can be seen passing the outbound tug Elizabeth Ann. Tugboats Timothy McAllister and Bridget McAllister assist her into Baltimore, Maryland. Watch for the kayaker in the last scene! For best results watch in FULL SCREEN. You may need to watch for 20+ seconds before full resolution kicks in.
She is the 4th NYK Line ship I have seen around Baltimore, the others being the Taurus Leader (September 15, 2018), Atlas Leader (December 18, 2018), and Capricornus Leader (March 23, 2019)
