Lady Doris Soutbound on the Delaware River September 28, 2019
This 184x23m (604x75ft) bulk freighter was built in 2011 by AVIC Weihai Shipyard in Weihai, China according to BalticShipping.com and owned by Schnaittenbach, Germany based MINSHIP. They have provided this interesting data sheet on the Lady Doris.
She would not be easily confused with the luxury yacht of the same name! She made the news in 2014 when she arrived in Duluth, Minnesota. Based on the photos she was wearing a different paint color at the time. A video of this arrival can be seen here. A video taken onboard by a crewmember of her at sea can be seen here.
In my video below she can be seen riding high in her well worn black paintjob. In the second scene she is seen passing Fort Delaware as I record from Fort Mott, New Jersey. About midway through the video she can be seen passing three anchored tugs and barges. As she covers the rightmost one a sharp eye can see a roro ship heading for the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal on the far right side of the screen. In the final scene she can be seen passing the Hope Creek Generating Station.
