Lalinde Comes to Baltimore August 22, 2020
This 139x25m (456x82ft) Philippines flagged bulker was built in 2006 by Yamanishi Shipbuilding & Iron Works in Ishinomaki, Japan and is owned by Athens, Greece based Hellas Marine Services according to BalticShipping.com.
The Hellas Marine Services website doesn’t fully load so I am not able to get much information on them. However, further searching on this ship shows that she shows up in the fleet list of C.S.C Manilia‘s fleet list.
She seems to have led an uneventful career as I was not able to find any news items on her and only one video besides my own. This interesting video from 2019 shows a pair of pilots of the Rio de la Plata Pilots boarding the ship before the pilot boat moves off and gives a full view of the ship.
In my 7 minute video below she can be seen turning from the Chesapeake Bay onto the Patapsco River towards Baltimore, Maryland on a hazy morning. She has an attractive blue and red paint scheme which is showing the wear of life at sea. After she passes under the Key Bridge the Seagirt Marine Terminal cranes can be seen working a container ship as the Lalinde passes. She appears to be heading for the container cranes but is actually dropping anchor.
