Margarete Schulte Comes to Baltimore June 20, 2020

This 210x30m (689x98ft) container ship was built in 2006 by STX Shipbuilding in Seoul, South Korea and is owned by Mumbai, India based BSM India according to BalticShipping.com. According to MarineTraffic.com she can carry up to 2536 TEUs.

She appears to have had an uneventful career as I’ve found no news items on this ship. I did find this video of her in Gdynia, Poland apparently in 2016. Also check out this drone video of her in Philadelphia in 2017.

In my 11 minute video below she can be seen approaching on the Patapsco River while dredging is taking place. The tug Miss Gloria shoving a barge can be seen in the next scenes. As the ship nears it can be seen that she has 4 cranes which is unusual for a container ship. A colorful assortment of containers on board can be seen from UASC, Hamburg Sud, Maersk, Hapag-Lloyd, and others. After passing under the Key bridge, the tugboat April Moran can be seen following ready to assist in docking.
