MSC Carolina Comes to Baltimore September 13, 2020

This 275x40m (902x131ft) Panama flagged container ship was built in 2005 by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries according to BalticShipping. She is owned by Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) and can carry 5919 TEUs and 400 reefer TEUs.

According to this Court Listener page a Kuwaiti company by the name of Al-Alamiyah For Manufacturing Tempered Glass Co. filed a lawsuit in New York against this ship for damage to cargo in 2007. I am not able to discern the outcome of the case based on what is shown here.

I did not find any news items between then and now relating to this ship until this AJOT news item about MSC adding new calls to improve service between USA and South America East Coast.

8870-1 Pilot Boat Baltimore alongside MSC Carolina

This video posted in 2013 shows the ship in the Brazilian Port of Santos. This video posted this year shows a drone video of this ship in the same area. This video also posted this year apparently by a crew member shows the ship in various places as well as some scenery.

In my 9 minute 37 second video below she can be seen arriving on the Patapsco River having passed the outbound bulker Flag Thenia and followed by inbound RoRo Victoria Highway. Pilot boat Baltimore can be seen coming alongside.

After passing under the Key Bridge the tug Gramma Lee T Moran is awaiting the ship. In the following scene container cranes can be seen working the Spirit of Hamburg while tug April Moran is seen before disappearing on the far side of the ship. She appears again in the next scene behind the ship. In the following scenes both tugs can be seen pushing the ship to dock.
