MSC Oriane Comes to Baltimore October 3, 2018

On October 3rd I was awaiting a day of Baltimore Fleet Week arrivals. Fleet Week is an amazing event which provides the opportunity to view and visit a variety of different kinds of ships from around the world. The ship that came into view first wasn’t Fleet Week traffic, however.

This big container ship was an impressive and welcome sight. As she comes near you will see how small the local traffic appears in relation to her. After she passes under the Key Bridge (I-695 in Maryland) watch for tugs helping the ship into her parking spot at Seagirt Marine Terminal. Also watch for the rubber tire container gantries moving around as well as for container trucks along the edge of the water. For best results watch in FULL SCREEN. You may need to watch for 20+ seconds before full resolution kicks in.
