MSC Vigo Comes to Baltimore April 14, 2019
This 270x40m (885.83×131.23ft) container ship was built in 2012 by Daewoo Mangalia Heavy Industries which is now Damen Shipyards Mangalia after Damen took control of Daewoo’s shareholding in 2017. According to scheepvaartwest she can carry 5,550 TEUs and has 716 reefer plugs. She is owned by Offen Reederei GmbH and operated by MSC.
In her arrival video below watch as she is first greeted by the pilot boat Maryland then passes the outbound Wallenius Wilhelmsen ro-ro ship Tamesis. A size comparison can be made to the docked Evergreen ship Ever Lasting as she is helped to her own berth by tugs April Moran and Lynne Moran. The cranes can be seen lowering over the ship as the cruise ship Carnival Pride passes. For best results watch in FULL SCREEN. You may need to watch for 20+ seconds before full resolution kicks in.
I have gotten video of one other MSC ship around Baltimore, the MSC Oriane on October 3, 2018 and March 26, 2019.
You can view my photography (more than just ships!) here and more videos here.
