MSC Vigo Comes to Baltimore May 24, 2020
This 270x40m (886×131ft) container ship was built in 2012 by Daewoo Mangalia Heavy Industries which is now Damen Shipyards Mangalia after Damen took control of Daewoo’s shareholding in 2017. According to scheepvaartwest she can carry 5,550 TEUs and has 716 reefer plugs. She is owned by Offen Reederei GmbH and operated by MSC.
I haven’t found any news items on this ship but there are some other videos of her. Friend of Baltimore Shipspoting, Shipping.TV got this video of her arriving in Felixtowe, UK on February 13, 2019. Local drone videographer Pat Gavin got this footage of both the departing roro Tamesis and the arriving container ship MSC Vigo on April 14, 2019.
I last saw this ship on the same day as Pat Gavin’s video so check out my blog posting which includes photo and video from that day.
In my 11 minute video below she can be seen approaching from the Chesapeake Bay before the pilot boat Vedette approaches her while on the Patapsco River. The outbound tug Sun Coast passes while towing a barge. After passing under the Key Bridge she has picked up the tugs April Moran and Annabelle Dorothy Moran. The ship under the white cranes in the last scene is the Maersk Yukon.
