Smoketown Brewing Station November 9, 2019
Smoketown Brewing Station (facebook) (twitter) (instagram) is in Brunswick, Maryland and lives in a 1948 former fire house.
Their products are brewed on site.
The have food in addition to their beers but invite guests to bring food from outside. Since I had pizza on the brain my friend and I went to King’s Pizza next door which I talk about at the end of my posting of the Veterans Day Parade which you can read by clicking here.
I tried a flight of 4 beers which costed $10.25 because there is a “Big Ass” in a regular flight. I don’t understand what their Big Ass concept is and I am not sure what the price of a flight without one would have been. The concept isn’t mentioned on their website.
This flight included “Light Rail” Lager, “Berlin” Brown Ale, “Pauline’s” Pumpkin Ale, and “Great Divide” Maple Porter (Bourbon Barrel).
I assumed I would like the Pumkin Ale the best and the Great Divide the least but it turned out to be the reverse. The Great Divide was, as expected, a bit on the bitter side but the maple plus the time in the bourbon barrel gave this a very interesting flavor that was enjoyable.
Next I liked the Light Rail Lager, then the Berlin Brown Ale which both had nice flavors. Unexpectedly in last place was the pumpkin ale which I found to be too bitter to be enjoyable.
I would definitely recommend a visit to this place. I plan to make this spot a punctuation mark on future Brunswick train watching trips.
