Statengracht Comes to Baltimore February 8, 2020
This 172x25m (564.3×82.02ft) general cargo ship was built in 2004 by Stocznia Szczecinska Nowa in Szczecin, Poland for spliethoff according to scheepvaartwest. Spliethoff categorizes her as an S-Type ship. Check out this data sheet on the ship.
This ship had a bad day according to this February 2, 2013 article on Shipwreck Log when she was struck by another ship in the Baltic Sea near Ruegen, Germany. Be sure to click the article link to see photos.
A few interesting videos were found of this ship, this one from 2009 showing the engine room, this one from 2010 showing the ship being loaded with steel, and this one from 2013 showing it being unloaded of aluminum via the ship’s elevators.
In my video below she can be seen passing the outbound bulker Ricarda in the first scene. As the ship nears boxy structures on deck can be seen which are the ship’s elevators seen in use in one of the videos above. The outbound cruise ship Grandeur of the Seas can be seen passing. In the final scene a blue crane can be seen lowering over the docked container ship Maersk Utah. It moves so slowly that it doesn’t appear to be moving at all!
