AIDALuna Departs Baltimore September 26, 2019
This 252x32m (827x106ft) cruise ship was built in 2009 by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany. Owned by Germany based AIDA she was making her last stop here in Baltimore before returning to New York city on a cruise that took also visited Bermuda, Nassau, Miami and Port Canaveral in Florida, and Norfolk. She is the third of six Sphinx class cruise ships and can carry up to 2200 passengers in her 1025 cabins.
A great article on the Sphinx class ships from 2012 can be found at Maritime Matters which also has a lot of interior photos. The Very unOfficial Travel Guides did a very interesting video review of the ship in 2015 which also has video of her interior and clips of the shows on board. Cruise Mapper has this handy deck plan page which also talks a bit about her April 2019 refurbishment. A video of her float out after her refit can be seen here and her first post-refit voyage video can be seen here.
In my video below she can be seen heading out of Baltimore as the last of the day’s sunlight shines on her hull. By the time she passes under the Key bridge the sun has gone down for the night. The passengers on board can be seen enjoying one of their last evenings aboard their cruise.
You can view my photography (more than just ships!) here and more videos here.
