Hoegh Trapper Comes to Baltimore September 14, 2019

This 199x36m (653x118ft) roro ship was built in 2016 by Xiamen Shipbuilding Industries according to scheepvaartwest and is owned by Hoegh. She is the fourth of six New Horizon class ships and can carry up to 8,500 cars across her 14 decks. This unfortunately low quality video shows the interior and capabilities of the New Horizon class ships.

She made a celebrated return to the Port of Mackay in July which can be read about here – be sure to also watch her arrival video!

binmei.jp took this great video of the Trapper sailing the Kanmon Strait in June of 2018. JG2AS made this video of her sailing in the same place in May of 2019. Also check out this very interesting if a little overly dramatic documentary by Free Documentary.

In my video below she can be seen passing the outbound cruise ship Grandeur of the Seas and followed by the bulk freighter SSI Excellent. After she passes under the Key bridge she can be seen getting McAllister tugboat assistance. In the final scene she and the SSI Excellent are seen going different directions.
