Atalandi Departs Baltimore November 8, 2020

This 225x32m (738x105ft) Greek flagged bulker was built in 2014 by Jiangnan Shipyard in Shanghai, China according to a data sheet on this ship by the ship’s owner, Diana Shipping based in Athens Greece.

In 2015 this ship apparently skipped out on a fuel bill according to this Louisiana Record article which states that just over $273,000 of fuel was ordered and delivered from Bunkers International Corp. A lawsuit was filed in November of that year but I was unable to discover what the judgement was. I was unable to find a website for the company but did find that the company filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy the same year according to this Ship & Bunker article.

According to this 2019 International Bulk Journal article this ship was entered into a time charter contract with Dusseldorf, Germany based Uniper Global Commodities at a rate of $12,250 per day.

This GlobeNewswire article indicates that the contract was continued at a daily rate of $9.300 per day.

This video from 2016 shows her underway in an unnamed location. A video from 2017 shows her departing from Belfast, Scotland with the assistance of a pair of tugs.

In my 8 minute video below she can be seen getting assistance from tug Gramma Lee T Moran as she departs Curtis Bay onto the Patapsco River as she departs Baltimore, Maryland. Bulkers from that directly from my observation are loaded with coal.

Deckhands can be seen untying the lines before the tug breaks away and turns towards home. “Diana Shipping Inc.” printed in large letters on her side makes it clear who her owner is. As she makes her way to the Chesapeake Bay some pleasure boat traffic can be seen.
