Next up is Seagirt Marine Terminal, Baltimore’s container port. Two container ships were at dock, Grete Maersk and Capital’s Archimidis. Both ships were being loaded with containers and we watched the activity as we headed further into Baltimore.
Right next to Seagirt is where the Nuclear Ship Savannah calls home. We admired her rare beauty for a few moments. I was able to get a tour of her during National Maritime Day – click here to read about it!
Next we saw the second of three Dann Marine Towing tugs, the Discovery Coast with a Dann barge. We admired the attractive blue and white paint job before pushing on.
We found the bulk freighter Sea Voyager being loaded with coal at the CNX Marine Terminal. Judging by her position in the water it looked like she was almost done being loaded!
At various points around Baltimore, railroad cars can be seen from the water. On this trip some Reading Northern coal cars were seen at CNX Marine Terminal and NAHX (General Electric Railcar Services) cylindrical covered hoppers at Lehigh Cement.
