Further along the barges DBL 101 and Penn No. 120 were sitting waiting for work. The small tall ship Summer Wind owned by American Sailing Tours passed by us as well! Another Baltimore Water Taxi, the Indefatigable,, passed by us, I think going to the Fort McHenry stop.

We found three McAllister Towing tugboats near Fort McHenry. Bridget McAllister, Timothy McAllister and Robert E. McAllister.

At Fairfield we found two more roro ships, the ARC Honor and the Galaxy Ace. I have two blog entries on the ARC Honor from earlier in the year, once about her arrival and once about her departure. Although the paint scheme on these two ships is very similar they’re owned by two different companies. Note the differences in the bow of the two ships. The water was less calm here than down by Domino Sugar.

We attempted to get some video by the ships on the other side of the river but the water was still unsteady with waves so we decided photos would have to suffice for this trip. It was lunchtime for us so we headed to Anchor Bay East Marina on Bear Creek to have lunch. Along the way we spotted the Peninsula Expressway’s drawbridge rising to admit a boat. The tugboat Christi was also seen. After docking Doug posed with his boat. We spotted a pair of mallards and a turtle swimming with a plastic bottle here.

At the Hard Yacht Cafe Doug had the Chicken POE. At this restaurant you can get grilled or fried chicken strips appetizer with your choice of sauces on the chicken or on the side and I chose fried with parmesan garlic on. Both were delicious and portions generous enough that we each took half our meals home. Doug returned here with his wife about a week later and they split chicken quesadillas with salsa and sour cream and a plate of hush puppies. On a previous visit here I had Uncle Bobby’s Crabby Tots which I found delicious and again the portions generous enough that I had to take home. Our waitress Chelsey was friendly and attentive and helped to make our lunch a pleasure despite the fact that the restaurant was busy.

On the way out of the area we saw the boat Size Matters being lifted out of the water on a Marine Travelift. Further on another Osprey was keeping watch on things. All in all this was a very successful outing with a lot of ships in town and good weather. Looking forward to our next trip!

A little bit of video was taken and you can check it out above! If you wish to see all the photos from this trip click here!
