Chem Sirius Comes to Baltimore December 30, 2019

This 146x24m (479x79ft) chemical/oil tanker was built in 2011 by Fukuoka Shipbuilding in Fukuoka, Japan according to BalticShipping.com. It is not entirely clear who owns this ship. BalticShipping.com indicates Blue Wake Shipping owns this ship. Scheepvaartwest says Chem Sirius SA is the owner. Additionally a google search of this ship’s name finds this ship in the fleet list of Ace Tankers.

Who manages this tanker is also a mystery. BalticShipping.com says Fairfield Chemical Carriers, Scheepvaartwest says ASM Maritime.

This tanker was the subject of additional drama in 2018 when a case was filed against her in Pennsylvania Eastern District Court by Houston based GCC Bunkers on June 8th. An arrest warrant was issued the next day and the case was voluntarily dismissed by GCC Bunkers on June 15th according to this PaceMonitor page. Given the “Maritime Commercial Instruments and Liens Act” cause one could speculate this is over an unpaid bill.

Check out this 2018 video of her making an arrival. I am not sure where since the description doesn’t say but my guess would be the Netherlands or Germany.

In my video below the tug Theresa Krause can be seen heading out on the Patapsco river to assist the tanker in to dock. The ship can be seen making an evening arrival. A second Krause tug arrives near Fort Carroll but I was unable to identify it. As the light continues to wane as the ship approach the video becomes more of a light show.
