Davis Ship Service December 18, 2019

When ships come and go from Baltimore, Maryland, most think about what cargo they bring to town or take to distant locations but don’t give much more thought to them. However, these ships need important services such as trash removal, laundry services, up to date publications, and spare parts.

Davis Ship Service does all these and more. They share a small building with their sister company, Maryland Nautical, in a small building in a residential neighborhood near the Domino Sugar refinery.

Davis Ship Service is a USDA Certified Foreign Garbage Hauler. A dedicated team is used to retrieve trash from ships and are trained and equipped to deal with spills should they happen.

Laundry is picked up from the ship and then delivered to an off site laundry facility. Though normally handled by the next day it can take as long as 72 hours. It will then be delivered back to the ship when done.

Their specialization, however, is ship spares. They have 3,000 square feet of warehouse space for storage, two forklifts, a stake body truck, a cube truck, and three cargo vans. They can palletize, band, and crate on site. Their drivers are DOT Compliant and HazMat Certified. Davis Ship Service has a bonded Cartman’s License and are registered with the Federal Motor Carrier, and are bonded and insured.

They are near BWI which is their airport of choice for importing and exporting though they are also able to handle shipments from Dulles, Newark, JFK and Philadelphia airports.

For shipments to or from ships in or near Baltimore they are partnered with Vane Launch. They can also handle ships at or near Cove Point and are partnered with Cape Henry Launch Service for that location.

They have several large printers for on demand printing of up to date charts. They also have available other required publications a ship might need.
