Dublin Express Comes to Baltimore June 22, 2019
This 281x32m (922x105ft) container ship was built in 2002 by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in Doeje, South Korea according to scheepvaartwest. She is owned by Hapag-Lloyd and can carry 4121 TEUs and has 1,304 reefer plugs according to this handy data sheet. According to this list she is a Dublin Express class ship which has a total of three members. This class is in a group of ships that is the third smallest in the Hapag-Lloyd fleet.
This ship made the news in late March of 2019 when she developed a heavy fuel oil leak. This excellent gCaptain article covers the incident. The Dublin Express was permitted by the US Coast Guard to depart New York Container Terminal in Staten Island on April 5, 2019 after repairs and cleanup. This Safety4Sea article has more information.
In the below video she can be seen making a sunrise arrival with a small load of containers on deck. Many rows are empty but the ones with containers are colorful with a variety of different shipping companies represented. As she passes under the bridge the tugboat Bridget McAllister can be seen intercepting her. In the next scene the ARC Honor can be seen held to dock by tugs Timothy McAllister and Robert McAllister while the ship is being tied down. As the Dublin Express passes her rudder is visible as she is riding high out of the water. The tugboat Bridget McAllister is seen following. In the next scene we see the tugboat April Moran has arrived to help guide her to dock.
