Maersk Yukon Departs Baltimore January 24, 2021

This 349x49m (1145x161ft) Singapore flagged container ship was built in 2009 by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in Incheon, South Korea for Haifa, Isreal based ZIM and named ZIM Djibouti according to BalticShipping.com.

According to this 3PLNews article she was ZIM’s largest vessel at the time of delivery carrying up to 10.062 TEU.

In 2013 she made the news when she became the largest ship to call on the Port of Tacoma.

It is unclear when or how she came under Maersk‘s ownership but it appears that it may have been in 2019. The Maersk paint looks good on her but is already showing signs of rust.

Check out this video taken from the bridge in 2016 of her departing Tacoma, Washington.

The only video I have found of her in her new paint scheme and name is my own 6 and a half minute 4K video below of her departing Baltimore, Maryland on the Patapsco River. Floating cranes for the BGE overhead lines project can be seen in the second scene. Inbound container ship Grete Maersk can be seen later in the video. In the final scene she is turning onto the Chesapeake Bay to head South.
