Suomigracht Comes to Baltimore December 24, 2019

This 185x25m (607x82ft) general cargo ship was built in 2004 in Poland by Stocznia Szczecinska Nowa SP Z OO shipyard according to BalticShipping.com and is owned by Amsterdam based spliethoff.

She is one of 3 of spliethoff’s S2L-Type ships which are the largest ships spliethoff has. I have seen to date 6 other spliethoff ships, Spuigracht, Dynamogracht, Stadiongracht, Sluisgracht (twice), Scheldegracht, and Fortunagracht.

Check out these two time lapse videos taken from the bridge of this ship, one from 2015 of her in Port of Palm Beach, Florida and one from 2016 of her in Houston Ship Channel, Texas.

In the first scenes of my video below the tugboat Island Pilot can be seen heading back into Baltimore before the first sight of Suomigracht turning onto the Patapsco River from the Chesapeake Baty in Maryland. As she nears it can be seen she is carrying several boats. The pilot boat Maryland can be seen alongside.
