Thruxton Comes to Baltimore February 16, 2020

This 199x38m (653x125ft) roro ship was built in 2018 by Shin Kurishima Dockyard and is owned by Picer Marine and managed by Zodiac Maritime according to ClassNK. She can carry up to 7,429 cars.

2728-1 Roro Thruxton and pilot boat Maryland

In my video below she can be seen approaching from the Chesapeake Bay before turning onto the Patapsco River and heading towards the camera. Her unusual width (38m vs 32m for most roros) becomes apparent as she comes closer. After she turns to pass in front of the camera the pilot boat Maryland arrives on scene and they can be seen climbing aboard the ship in the following scene.

In the next scene the pilots can be seen passing an open door on the top deck. The ship’s unusually blunt nose becomes apparent as well. After she passes under the Key bridge tugs Lynne Moran and April Moran are seen ready to help the ship to turn towards her berth at Dundalk.
