Victoria Highway Departs Baltimore July 2, 2019
This 199x37m (653x121ft) roro ship was built in December of 2018 by a subsidiary of Tsuneishi Shipbuilding, Tadotsu Shipyard in Japan according to ClassNK (link has a lot of detailed info on this ship). Also according to ClassNK the ship is managed by Wallem Shipmanagement and owned by Olive Investment Group. I can’t find much information on the latter but I suspect it is a similar situation to a bank owning someone’s car for the duration of the loan.
Interestingly there is little information on this 7,450 car capacity ship on “K” Line’s own website other than a mention on the sailing schedule. The schedule shows that she is one of four ships assigned to their “North Atlantic Shuttle”. This must be a huge company if it is so unimpressed by the delivery of a new ship they don’t even have a press release on it. Contrast this with the WECO Josefine which I found a video of the launching and naming ceremony of the ship!
In the video below check out her sporty red and white paint job. She also has an unusually flat nose for a type of ship that typically has a more rounded bow. As she passes the camera check out her contrasting green painted stern ramp!
Two other ships were seen this day and I will edit this text to include them after I write their blog entries.
