Maersk Gateshead Comes to Baltimore October 31, 2020

This 292x32m (958x105ft) Singapore flagged container ship was built in 2002 by Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan, South Korea and is owned by Maersk according to BalticShipping.com.

On January 6, 2019 she suffered a mishap when bunker fuel spilled during bukering operations at the Port of Hong Kong according to this gCaptain article which also indicates she has a capacity of 4340 TEU.

In my 10 minute video below she can be seen making a making a morning arrival on the Patapsco River. Pilot boat Baltimore comes alongside. A pilot bag can be seen lowering to the boat. As she nears the signs of a ship’s hard life at sea can be seen. Workers begin removing the ladders used by the pilot to board the ship.

After passing under the Key Bridge the tugboat Gramma Lee T Moran can be seen alongside preparing to lend assistance to dock. In the next scene the April Moran can briefly be seen at the rear of the ship.
