Michalis Comes to Baltimore December 3, 2018

This 180x30m (590.55×98.43ft) bulk freighter is a bit of a puzzle. The name of this ship as painted on the hull is Michalis. It seems there’s a few ships out there with this name based on a google search. It gets stranger when this ship’s IMO number (9545510) reports as Jackie B. MarineTraffic shows this disparity in photos of this ship having both names. This ship is apparently owned by a Greek company called Empire Bulkers and the symbol on the funnel matches their logo, however their fleet list includes neither Michalis nor Jackie B. According to BalticShipping.com this ship was built by Samjin Weihai in Weihai, China in 2011.
In the video below you’ll see she not only has four cranes but also vertical structures which may be for logs or other similarly shaped cargo. In the final scene you can also see the container ship Gunhilde Maersk heading to dock. Watch FULL SCREEN for best results! May need to watch for 20+ seconds before the high res kicks in.

In addition to this ship and the container ship above I also saw a tanker ship. You can see a video with all three here.
