Star Lysefjord Comes to Baltimore December 18, 2018

This general cargo ship measures 204x32m (669.29×104.99ft) and was built in 2012 by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in Ulsan, South Korea according to BalticShipping.com. She is owned by Norweigian company Grieg Group and managed by Grieg Star Shipping who labels this an L Class ship. Her cranes can lift 75 metric tons or pair to lift metric 150 tons. They have provided this really interesting pocket planner with more information on this ship class. The G2Ocean painted on the hull is a joint venture between Grieg Star Shipping and Gearbulk. I am not completely clear on the purpose of the venture but it seems to be to make a single point of contact for customers to use the resources of the two companies. In the video below watch this ship with an attractive paint job full of character that comes from being weathered by the sea. Tugboat Rising Sun passes this ship pushing a barge out of Baltimore, Maryland. Pilot boat Maryland comes alongside then tug Lynne Moran approaches from behind. For best results watch in FULL SCREEN. You may need to watch for 20+ seconds before full resolution kicks in.

Other ships I saw this day were NYK Line ro-ro vehicles carrier Atlas Leader and Container ro-ro ship Bahri YANBU.
