Victoria Highway Comes to Baltimore September 13, 2020
This 199x37m (653x121ft) Panama flagged roro ship was built in December of 2018 by a subsidiary of Tsuneishi Shipbuilding, Tadotsu Shipyard in Japan according to ClassNK (link has a lot of detailed info on this ship). Also according to ClassNK the ship is managed by Wallem Shipmanagement and owned by Olive Investment Group. I can’t find much information on the latter but I suspect it is a similar situation to a bank owning someone’s car for the duration of the loan.
Interestingly there is little information on this 7,450 car capacity ship on “K” Line’s own website other than a mention on the sailing schedule. The schedule shows that she is one of four ships assigned to their “North Atlantic Shuttle”. This must be a huge company if it is so unimpressed by the delivery of a new ship they don’t even have a press release on it. Contrast this with the WECO Josefine which I found a video of the launching and naming ceremony of the ship!
I last saw this ship on the 2nd of July, 2019 when she departed Baltimore, Maryland.
This video from February 2019 shows her maiden departure from Southampton Docks. This video posted December of 2018 shows her in an unnamed location.
In my 10 minute video below she can be seen arriving on the Patapsco River as she heads for Baltimore, Maryland. Pilot boat Baltimore is seen. The 2 year old ship’s paintjob is holding up well with just some scuff marks from tugboats above the waterline. After passing under the Key Bridge tug Patrick McAllister can be seen alongside. In later scenes tug Timothy McAllister is seen on the other side of the ship. Both tugs disappear from view as they continue to assist her to dock at Dundalk Marine Terminal.
